Four schools in the UK town of Stamford raced electric go-karts engineered and built by 270 of their students at RAF Wittering on Wednesday 4th November. In total, six go-karts built by
students were on show, racing against the clock in a series of heats to determine the winning school.

In April, every primary school in the town was invited to the Cummins Generator Technologies plant on Barnack Road, Stamford, to participate in the project. Four of those schools; Malcolm Sargent, St Gilbert's, St Augustine's and Stamford Junior School opted to participate in the challenge with Cummins to promote STEM subjects.

Since then the schools were provided with kits and engineering support from Cummins to help the children construct the chassis and design the bodywork of each go-kart.

Congratulations to the following winners:

  • Malcolm Sargent- Drag and Circuit Race
  • Stamford Junior School-Best Kart Design
  • St Augustine's and Stamford Junior School- Best Portfolio
