STAMFORD | AvK successfully transitions to latest ISO standard

STAMFORD | AvK has completed a successful transition from the ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 standard as we keep on board with the latest practises to ensure good quality management in the design, manufacture and service support of electrical generators and related equipment.

The ISO 9001 standard is the internationally recognised Quality Management System (QMS) framework in place to ensure that the quality management processes installed within STAMFORD's UK operations satisfy the requirements of this international standard as a minimum.

The ISO 9001 standard has been periodically revised since the late 1980s and STAMFORD | AvK has had its QMS certified to every version as we understand the importance of keeping high standards for our customers.

STAMFORD | AvK's commitment to achieving the transition to the latest version has meant that we are one of the first companies to be compliant with the regulations that all businesses are required to be registered to by September 2018.

Paul Wright, Quality Systems Manager at STAMFORD | AvK, said: 'We started work on our UK transition in early 2016 and successfully achieved our new certification after an audit carried out by Bureau Veritas earlier this year.

'Many similar companies have still not transitioned ' our certification provider did state during July that of their customers, only around 20% had been transitioned the new requirements.

'The issuing of a certificate not only demonstrates that we have a QMS that satisfies the requirements of the international standard but also that we work to that system.'

The recent revisions to the standard changed the look and feel to allow for a common framework to be used across a number of other management system standards like environment, safety and energy. The standard has also reflected a move to drive increased participation from business leaders and make it easier to identify and support the needs of all stakeholders, not just the customers.
