STAMFORD® alternators continue to be the right choice for Korail’s repowering process

Korail, the national railway operator of South Korea, has been using STAMFORD® HC4 alternators in auxiliary repowering since 2012.

The STAMFORD® HC4 alternator is a high efficiency product which is predominantly used for grid code applications, marine naval ships, shopping malls, industrial buildings and critical standby power applications. This proven robustness made STAMFORD® HC4 the ideal choice for Korail.

STAMFORD® and Korail partnership began in 2012, with the introduction of HCI434F2 and HCI434C2 STAMFORD® alternators to rail cars currently in use by Korail. Alternators supplying auxiliary power to the rail car are replaced by Korail in their repowering schedule, which is beneficial in extending the rolling stock’s lifetime.

The STAMFORD® HC4 has a maximum continuous rating of 500kVA at 60Hz (400kVA at 50Hz) and a voltage output of 380-690 volts, providing the perfect match for Korail's powering requirements. It sits in the STAMFORD® portfolio alongside the STAMFORD® S-Range S4. The STAMFORD® S-Range features CoreCooling™ technology and a three-year warranty.
