STAMFORD | AvK celebrates the global success of the S9 alternator platform Published On: April 15, 2026 STAMFORD | AvK is celebrating a significant milestone in the introduction of the S Range of high-performance alternators. Strong customer uptake on the S9 alternators offering, seeing customers in all regions utilising the S9 in critical power applications, will underpin withdrawal of the legacy products in 2026. When the first S9 high voltage machines from the Pune facility in India ship in mid-2026, low and high voltage machines will be available from Romania, India and China. This marks a significant step in the program’s global maturity, with S9 now available from manufacturing plants to suit every customer need. With customers increasingly specifying S9 globally for data centre power systems, alongside broader use in standby, prime power and combined heat and power (CHP) applications, STAMFORD | AvK’s global footprint stands ready to support these critical growing markets. Built to support demanding duty cycles and complex site requirements, the S9 platform is engineered to deliver strong performance while helping customers optimise footprint and system efficiency. Building on the heritage of the P80 Stamford and DIG AvK Products and utilising the product enhancements demonstrated on S0 to S7 products, the S9 benefits from a wide band of output powers, efficiency and insulation enhancements and weight and envelope reductions relative to its predecessors. “Delivering a platform like S9 at global scale takes deep collaboration, across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Service” said James Davies, Product Development Manager said “the team have addressed challenges, listened to customers and been incredibly agile when required, the outcome is a product they should all be proud of”. S9 is backed by STAMFORD | AvK’s support network, with Application Engineering expertise and training available to help customers from system design through installation and lifecycle support. S9HV and LV are well positioned to meet the demands of all market of segments in its power band, with the standard machine available “from the brochure” to meet the needs of data centres, standby, prime power or combined heat and power (CHP) applications and tailoring to more niche requirements available through the global applications engineering teams. As critical infrastructure continues to evolve, STAMFORD | AvK remains focused on providing alternator solutions that support resilience, efficiency and long-term confidence for customers worldwide.
