Published On: July 11, 2023

A truly global event, with exhibitors and visitors participating from all over the world, the annual Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo took place in Amsterdam 20 to 22 June. With over 200+ exhibitors and 3,000+ visitors, it is dedicated solely to showcasing the very latest and next-generation electric and hybrid marine propulsion technologies, charging equipment and fuel-saving solutions.

The STAMFORD | AvK  team were onboard to discuss future decarbonization opportunities and proven solutions for hybrid applications combining battery and solar power, diesel propulsion, auxiliary and shaft power.

Sarah Nicholls, Product Lifecyle Director, commented “This was another great opportunity for us to showcase the STAMFORD S7 water-cooled alternator to the marine market, which received a lot of interest for its unique functionality and water-cooling options.”

Peter van Poppel, Alternator Account Manager from Caldic Techniek, our authorised distributor for the Benelux region, was also onboard to meet and assist visitors and customers.

Partnership awards were presented to each of our key marine customers at the event, including VARD and Ulstein who also received another award from the show organisers. These awards consist of 9 categories and were a celebration of recent advances in marine propulsion technology and progress towards a greener and more sustainable industry.

Ulstein was announced as the winner of the Concept Vessel Design of the Year Award for a solution to redefining the whole approach for zero-emission operations.

The Ocean Charger concept won the Vessel Charging Innovation of the Year Award. With a strong consortium of industry and research partners, VARD will lead the way from research to testing, validation, and commercialisation of new technological solutions for energy transfer to battery-powered ships offshore.

The overall messaging of the STAMFORD | AvK stand - Proven marine alternator solutions to a net zero path featured three hybrid case studies from VARD and Ulstein.
