Solar powering manufacturing facility sustainability goals

Published On: August 11, 2023

Sustainability is paramount for STAMFORD | AvK, and we are continually looking at ways to improve our carbon footprint, from product design through to our operations.

In line with our mission to maximise our sustainability and minimise our carbon impact, we have adopted a number of bold, imaginative initiatives that affect the way we do business today, and tomorrow.

From LED lighting, water consumption reduction, and a circular and recycling material focus, our manufacturing facilities are working towards a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas and 30% reduction in waste by 20230.

Our solar panels across our manufacturing facilities in India, China, and Romania, have already generated 690,551 kWh of electricity. Our solar panel introduction has already saved 420 metric tonnes of CO2 in our Ahmednagar India plant; this is the equivalent to 90 petrol-engine cards being driven for an entire year.

What are the benefits of introducing solar panels within manufacturing facilities?

  • Reduced greenhouse emissions: Solar panels generate electricity without emitting greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide. By using solar power, manufacturing facilities can significantly reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to mitigating climate change.

  • Renewable energy source: Solar energy is a renewable resource, meaning it won't deplete over time, reducing the dependence on fossil fuels.

  • Air and water pollution reduction: Solar power generation doesn't produce air or water pollutants. This helps to improve local air quality and reduces the risk of water pollution from industrial processes.

  • Energy Independence: By generating our own electricity through solar panels, we can become more energy independent and less reliant on external power sources.
